TK Terrace, a retail conversion of restored factories strung together to form a unique retail and dining home is about discovering Shanghai. Connected on all sides to a series of well preserved blocks of 1930 lane houses in the former French Concession, the area surrounding this mixed-retail center is thriving with individual boutique shopping, cafes and restaurants. Design and sustainability have been methodically planned out with emphasis on outdoor space, terraces, contemporary art in order to give the entire retail mix a strong and dramatic experience throughout.
The series of buildings of existing buildings were repositioned, designed by the cutting edge team of architects at A00 and is a new approach to retail shopping. It is a radical redesign of buildings built from the 1920s through to the 1980s. The spaces have been completely transformed to allow the customers and tenants to exist in a unique mix of indoor and outdoor space among many different levels of both indoor and outdoor spaces.
Crafted by a team of on the ground developers with strong retail and conversion experience, the mission of TK terrace was simple from the start. Preserve the old, too many buildings have been razed in the race to development of Shanghai and China throughout. Design something amazing, because if a building becomes architecture, then it is art. And provide a space for the crowds and our tenants that taps into the ever expanding and evolving Taikang Lu area while becoming an important addition and entrance to one of the most unique retail environments on earth.
